In Italy, from 2013, new plantations for wood arboriculture have been realized. These are the Potentially Permanent Polycyclic Tree farm, is a sort of artificial mixed forest where different species coexist in the same management unit and are harvested at different times. The goal of these plantations is to differentiate both the financial risk of the farmer and the phytosanitary risk. Also, the impact of wood production on the environment is reduced and biodiversity is increased.
At the base of the innotavtive type of plantations there is a european project of LIFE+ Programme named InBioWood (Increase Biodiversity through Wood Production - LIFE12 ENV/IT/000153), in wich Compagnia delle Foreste is partner as responsible for communication and dissemination of Project activities and results. Among the various promotions of the Project they have been made videos, like what you can find at the link below. In the video, the speaker explains, in a simple and direct way, what are the advantages of these kind of tree farming compared to intensive poplar plantations, addressing not only to technicians, farmers and ordinary citizens, but also and above all to regional and national political decision makers, who they could focuses on the development of these plantations that combine wood production and environmental improvement.
Laser scanner terrestre: applicazioni nell'ambito del Progetto LIFE+ InBioWood
